Parenting Now’s Educator Resources
As developers of Make Parenting A Pleasure and Parenting: The First Three Years parenting curricula, Parenting Now provides parenting groups to our community. While it might seem easy to skip when time is running short, singing with parents and children is an important part of our groups. From building those warm connections with their child, building community with their group, learning new songs to sing with their children, or using songs and games to teach and guide their young children, parents gain so much from this simple activity. Parents respond that they love this special time at the end of group sessions! To enrich this part of the curriculum, consider making short videos of parenting educators singing simple songs, doing finger plays, and participating in simple hands-on activities. Parents can view these at their leisure or review when they forget the words! With Zoom, it’s easy to record sessions to share with parents at a later time. Often parents are inspired by the modeling of the parenting educator to get out of their comfort zone and jump right into songs. There is no “too silly” or “bad voice” with young children! Here is an example of one such video recorded by a Parenting Now educator.
“Discussions With Parenting Educators” are recorded online video sessions conducted by parenting educators with parents covering important topics such as parent self care and establishing routines for children. View them here.
